1994
Winter Olympics, Lillehammer, Norway
Given
only four months’ lead time, The Charles
Group created an unforgettable seven-day experience
for Verizon (NYNEX Worldwide). From the Olympic
opening ceremonies, horse-drawn sleds carried
100 guests along torch-lit paths to a sumptuous
dinner in a 16th-century Norwegian farmhouse.
Interpreters helped bridge language barriers
and glowing fireplaces warmed hearts and toes
long into the evening.
Natalie
Cole at the Kimmel Center, the Beach Boys Harborside
in San Diego and Michael McDonald at the Waikiki
Shell
At Philadelphia’s
newest and internationally acclaimed performing
arts complex, close to 1,000 guests of a global
insurance company dined on gourmet delicacies,
then enjoyed an unforgettable performance by
Natalie Cole.
Then, the inimitable Beach
Boys entertained these clients at Humphrey’s on the harbor
in San Diego feasting on seafood and southwest
delicacies. A fitting measure of our success:
there was the dancing in the aisles!
With the soft contours of
Diamond Head as a backdrop, The Waikiki Shell
was a perfect venue for an outdoor concert
by Michael McDonald. Guests feasted on exotic
Hawaiian specialties while enjoying beautiful
vistas and the mellow sound of McDonald’s
unique mix of polished soul and smooth, soft
rock.
The concerts were representative
of the company’s
annual client appreciation events.
Reception
at The Philadelphia Museum of Art
How to appropriately
celebrate the 100th birthday of Salvador Dali—one
of the most unusual and imaginative artists of
the 20th century? After an elegant reception and
dinner, 400 guests of a global insurance company
were the first participants in a citywide conference
to preview the exhibit while being entertained
by a performance of String Theory, a highly original
collaborative ensemble that combines music, movement
and sculptural long-string installations.
Annual
Big Apple Awards Program
How to elevate excitement
around an annual awards program in an industry
known for creativity and cutting edge events? For
the past 10 years, The Charles Group assumed the
challenge of planning and executing this annual
awards program that recognizes the in best public
relations campaigns in New York City.
Going for the impact
of a fresh state, The Rainbow Room, from the top
of the Rockefeller Center, was selected as the “new
venue.” With
fabulous food from Cipriani, one of the City’s
most popular caterers, the event has been a sellout
for two years running. AND, for our work
on this event, The Charles Group has been named
for two consecutive years producers of one of New
York City’s top 100 events. See
